  3. Making the Measurement

  5. Once the mires are properly aligned, 
  6. the dioptric power (and/or radii) of the 
  7. cornea can be read from the power drums.  
  8. The axes are read from the scale on the 
  9. body of the instrument beyond the power 
  10. drums.
  11.  
  12. The power in each meridian should be 
  13. read to the nearest 0.12 D. and axis to 
  14. the nearest 1 degree.

  16. The photograph shows a horizontal power 
  17. of 43.00 D. at 15 degrees.
  18.
